My Expert Tips for People Leaving Brooklyn for Upstate

I have a few tips for Brooklynites departing the city for Upstate NY, in a new article for Brownstoner.com.

My #1 tip: Beware of “unknown costs”: Victor Mendolia, from Beach and Bartolo Real Estate in Chatham, says property taxes Upstate can be surprisingly high. “This is particularly true when there is another layer of municipal government like incorporated villages or cities,” he says.

PS – No I don’t consider Westchester “Upstate” either!

Hudson in the New York Times (Again!)

For a town of about 6500 residents, Hudson NY sure gets its share or noteworthy press. One of the latest was in the New York Times entitled, Hudson, N.Y.: An Elegant Transformation.

Laying out some history, the piece tells of some of the newcomer businesses and some of the stalwarts. Wm Farmer & Son, Rivertown Lodge, Bonfiglio and Bread, Swoon Kitchenbar and Hudson Food Studio are all featured and more.
